  • Playing quizzes

The core functionality of helloquiz is playing quizzes. For the most part, the procedure for this should be self-explanatory:

    Map quizzes

Map quizzes can be played in 3 modes:

    • Normal mode - get the name of a shape, click on the corresponding area
    • Writing mode - get a highlighted shape, write its corresponding name
    • Drawing mode - get the name of a shape, draw the corresponding area

You can select the mode from the Settings tab on top of the quiz page. From the same menu, you can also choose "show names" - this will display the correct answers so that you can learn them before you play. Note: for the "show names" option, labels are automatically hidden to prevent overlap, so you may want to zoom in if you don't see every label.

Additionally, in the settings tab, you may find a few additional options:

    • borders - if this is unchecked, the shapes' borders will not show. Available in normal mode.
    • labels - if this is unchecked, all text will disappear from the map.
    • hard mode - if this is checked, previous answers will not be highlighted in their own colours.
    • force correct click - if this is checked, you will be forced to click on the correct answer after making an incorrect guess
    • recycle missed answers - if this is checked, any errors you made during gameplay will be replayed before the quiz ends.

Once you have selected the settings that you want, press start to play :)

    Writing system quizzes

Writing system quizzes are quite simple: try to transliterate the placename correctly to English. If you are stuck, then, you can click the 🔊 button to listen to an audio of the placename being pronounced (for most quizzes - certain languages don't have adequate TTS available). If you are still stuck, click skip to see the correct answer!

    Viewing your statistics

On your account page, you can view your progress on specific quizzes, or even questions. Note: currently, this feature is currently not available for drawing or writing mode.
